Medical Illness

The District of Columbia requires us to have on file a medical record of each child. Prior to admission to KinderHaus the child must have a current physical. Please return the completed medical form before your child begins.

For the protection of all children your child should be kept at home (WE CANNOT ACCEPT HIM/HER AT THE CENTER) if he/she shows any of the following symptoms:

  • a temperature
  • diarrhea or vomiting
  • a rash
  • nasal discharge green/yellow or milky
  • discharge for the eyes or ears
Below is a list of common communicable diseases:
  • Strep throat - Child needs to be on medicine for 24 hours
  • Green runny nose - needs to turn clear or a note from Dr.
  • Pinworm - note from Dr.
  • Viral infections - note from Dr.
  • Infected ear or glands - note from Dr.
  • Measles - symptom free plus note from Dr.
  • Mumps - symptom free plus note from Dr.
  • Chicken pox - all pox need to be crusted over
  • Scarlet fever - symptom free plus not from Dr.
  • Head lice - nits & lice head free - parent must wait while teacher checks
  • 5th disease? - note from Dr.
  • Ghardia - note from Dr.
  • TB - note from Dr.
  • Hepatitis B - note from Dr.
If your child has been exposed to any disease or illness or shows symptoms please keep him/her home. The note from the doctor must be on the doctor's letterhead or prescription pad/note must state what illness child had and that they are no longer contagious/that your child may come back to school/date/and doctors signature.
